“Telling Your Story”
MEMOIR WRITING WORKSHOP

Memoir writing workshop will be held Wednesday February 10 from 9:30 am 3:00 pm. Participants will explore the process of understanding and recording their personal, social, and cultural history as a gift to those they love. Bring a bag lunch.
Instructional objectives:
Participants will be introduced to:
-the process and usefulness of writing memoirs for themselves
-many resources including genealogy websites available to use in writing their story
-communication and connecting with family members and friends
-sharing the challenges and rewards of memoir writing
-different ways to organize the memoir
-the opportunity to reflect on their life choices, both personal and professional
About the instructor:
Joan Katz has a B.A. in psychology from the University of New Hampshire, a M.Ed. in guidance and counseling from the University of North Carolina, and has done extensive graduate work in American and New England History. She has chaired the Curriculum Committee of the Academy for Lifelong Learning at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and sits on the Executive Committee. Joan has been involved for many years in educational, health, and nonprofit sectors as both professional and volunteer, and has offered memoir writing to numerous organizations both locally and throughout the East coast.
