Bill describes himself as a perpetual student. As such, he considers himself a student of history…not an historian. Since arriving in Oxford in 1990 on his honeymoon with his bride Susie, Bill has pursued the history of our town continuously. It is an amazing and historic small village. Not least among its historic aspects is its native American history. Bill is a retired navy captain who served 31 years as both an enlisted hospital corpsman and a plans, operations and medical intelligence (POMI) officer. In the navy his final assignment was the special assistant to the navy surgeon general for plans, operations and medical intelligence. Bill has an undergraduate degree in healthcare administration and masters degrees in international relations/public administration and national security. He is a graduate of the National Intelligence University. Bill has held certifications as a SCUBA instructor, Master Diver Instructor, Accredited Marine Surveyor, Emergency Manager, Emergency Medical Technician, FEMA Instructor in Incident Management and Emergency Operations Center Management. Bill has published 2 books: ….Just Saying, a compilation of 50 of the 150 columns he wrote for a boating interest newspaper and Memoir of an Adventurous Life about his experiences with a nearly insatiable sense of adventure.
