I have worked with animals as subject for most of my professional career. I am interested in our relationships with them, and their inter species relationships. This painting continues my interest in journey as a metaphor, the unexpected that can occur, and how good can come from the experience. In this case, the fox and the tern find themselves voyaging together. Reflecting on the story of Huckleberry Finn during this painting, there may be challenges ahead for this unlikely duo, but they can also discover friendship, belonging, and support.

The painting is acrylic on canvas. My process uses acrylic gel infused paint to create layered marks and textures. These often create visual contrast with the more defined forms in the composition.
