Description

Please join us to explore the ongoing challenges of flooding, high tides, and
erosion in Oxford.  Through a three-part interactive series, we will look at
the impacts of sea level rise in Oxford and possible steps to arrest its most
devastating impacts on our community. We encourage participation at all
three sessions since they build on each other, but please join us for all you
can attend.

Doors open at 5 pm for drinks and light refreshments, followed by the
program from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. See below for details.

April 10th:  Session 1 – Local expert Bill Boicourt will introduce a short film
on the changing landscape of the Eastern Shore, followed by active
participant discussions. This is an eye-opening opportunity to ask
questions, exchange concerns and viewpoints, and expand understanding
of the key issues.

May 1st:  Session 2 – An interactive panel will discuss the science,
engineering and grant making needed to address sea level rise in Oxford,
including a focus on what has been successful in other places. Discussions
and participant questions will lead to a deeper understanding of possible
solutions.

June 5th:  Session 3 – We will look specifically at the options Oxford could
be exploring, the timeframes, and specific steps needed to allow the town
to combat the growing threat of sea level rise. Group discussions will
include brainstorming on next steps.
