OCC believes in the core values of diversity, inclusion and equality for all and will work toward promoting these conversations and values through our policies, programming and community involvement.

Vision: Enhance programming, expand participation and ensure fiscal sustainability while respecting the Center’s history and traditions.

The Oxford Community Center Building (OCC) has served as a community resource for over 80 years, first as a grammar school and then a high school and, for the last quarter century, as a cultural center and meeting place. OCC provides to residents and visitors alike a year-round schedule of educational, social, cultural, and recreational programs and events. It is indeed a mid-shore treasure enriching lives since 1928.

Located in the lovely and historic waterside village of Oxford on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, the Oxford Community Center (OCC) is housed in a gracious former schoolhouse. The building was designed by noted Annapolis-born architect Henry Powell Hopkins (1891-1985), who designed public buildings all over Maryland. The Oxford Community Center building is the last surviving example of this architect’s work. Recently completely renovated, OCC is an award-winning, LEEDS (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold certified building with state of the art geothermal HVAC, sound and lighting systems, a large auditorium, a full commercial kitchen, and several classrooms that are used and can be rented for a variety of activities.

Celebrate With Us!

In 2022 we celebrate 40 years since the OCC was incorporated as a community center and 10 years since the building renovation! We have created an entire virtual exhibit to showcase and celebrate the many milestones of the building and the people that helped pave the way for what OCC is today! Click below to enjoy the virtal exhibit and see the anniversary documentary.
