In my Maryland shop, I create art in the form of bowls and wall hangings from the most figured and spectacular local woods. When voids, inclusions, and cracks are presented, colored epoxy fill is often used to either play off the natural tones in the wood, or to create a stark contrast. I incorporate these burls and other figured woods on a lathe into my vision of art that showcases not only the natural beauty of the wood, but also utilizing mathematics in their design.
